Class Summary

The third grade year helps to build a strong academic and spiritual foundation upon which to build in the years to come. Differentiated instruction and purposeful lessons help to drive the students to become independent, confident, lifelong  21st Century learners. Teachers implement  instruction in the form of differentiation, interactive learning centers, shared reading, writer’s workshop, and whole group instruction. Students work as a community of learners with creativity and  Project Based Learning. Our goal is to create an environment that enriches mutual respect, self-discipline, technology, and life skills.

With our mission in mind, “Through Christ we rise about the ordinary to achieve the extraordinary” third grade students participate in a curriculum enriched with learning love for the Lord and for each other.  Students have the opportunity to lead school Mass and assist those around them in their families and communities as they perform acts of service to others.

Third grade science will follow the Next Generation Science Standards which encourage collaborative learning through hands on activities. A big activity in third grade is to learn about life cycles by hatching chicks.

Third grade students will enjoy Special Area Classes in: Art, PE, Music, Library/Technology, Spanish, and Guidance.
